Who Knew? TDF19-110
After his teammate, Geraint Thomas (Ineos) had been pulled back, it was Egan Bernal who attacked next. His attack stuck. He was able to drop everyone near the summit of the Col de l"iseran and go over the top alone. This was a bonus climb giving Bernal an extra eight seconds over the Maillot Jaune. At the time he went over the top, no one yet knew what the weather had in store in the valley. So a bit later, this was determined to be the end of the stage, meaning Bernal will be trading his Maillot Blanc for a Maillot Jaune. I'm guessing he would have been able to hold a minute and a half on Alaphilippe up the final climb, but I am equally sure the Frenchman would have come close to catching the Colombian on the way down this climb.
