All about the Polka Dots TdF23-105

Finally found the chance to create a title with a double meaning again. And this time I didn't even realize I did it until now. Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) started the day tied with the American Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost) but was wearing the Miallot a Pois due to the tie breaker rules. Since today's individual time trial included a climb up to the finish, points in the King of the Mountains competition. The points would be awarded to the first five fastest times up the just shy of three kilometer climb at the end of the stage. Powless who went before Ciccone had set the best time. That is until Ciccone, covered from head to the hem of his shorts in polka dots, got to the top of the climb. His ride stood against those who were vying for stage honors as well as out climbing Powless. He earned the maximum points on the climb and now has a five point lead over Powless heading into a hard mountain stage tomorrow.
