Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) reaches out to thank his teammate Mattia Cattaneo for all of the work in the effort to secure more KOM points in stage 17. The pair had been off the front of the peloton all day, and gotten over the first climb with maximum points going towards Evenepoel's Polka Dot Jersey. As they reached the bottom of the middle climb, Cattaneo swung off having done all he could. As he went by, Evenepoel reached out a had to thank his teammate for giving his all. The effort enable the defending Vuelta champion to move closer to his revised goal of winning the title of King of the Mountains in this year's Vuelta.
