Greig Leach

The French favorite, Leon Marchaud (France), did not disappoint the home fans in the pool. He is the current holder of the World Record in the 400 Medley race. He is particularly gifted in his turns and his speed underwater. Each turn put him further and further ahead of his nearest competitors. While he missed breaking his own World Record, he did set a new Olympic Record and won a Gold Medal in front of the French fans. It was quite the scene to see so many French singing their national anthem with such joy and gusto. Chapeau! The silver medal went in a tie to both the USA and Italy.
